Albendazole is a very cheap drug. It has no significant side effects (infancy and pregnancy not known). It has a very broad spectrum anti-anthelmentic action. It is effective against -

    1. Ascaris lumbricoides
    2. Ankylostoma Duodenalis
    3. Necator Americanus
    4. Threadworms
    5. Strongyloidis stercoralis
    6. Trichuris Trichuria
    7. Taenia Solium
    8. H. Nana (Taenia)
    9. Giardia lamblia
    10. Combination of all above parasites
In my opinion ideally every Indian patient should be given one dose of this drug.
