With the coming in of multiple specialities, it is interesting to note that the life history of a few illnesses belonging to different specialities resembles so much.
One such example that comes to my mind is thyroid disease. Patients developing thyroiditis, develop thyrotoxieosis and later on can end up with hypothyroidism, Yo Yo thyroid is an extreme example. Interestingly in cardiology, patients having a sick sinus syndrome develop brady-arrhythmias or tachyarrhythmias. Therefore a doctor is afraid to prescribe Isoprenaline to such patients having severe bradycardia, lest they land up with tachyarrhythmias.
