In my opinion the drugs are often wrongly blamed for precipitating asthma. Also in atopic patients, allergens are often over-blamed. I have often seen that where painting, construction or factory work is being done in the neighbourhood, an attack of bronchial asthma is blamed to be due to the same. In my opinion, "virus" is the commonest precipitating factor. Many asthmatics may start off with an attack of viral cold and cough. However, there are three drugs which should be remembered as possible causes of bronchial asthma.
1. Aspirin.
2. NSAID group of drugs.
3. Betablockers.
