Day by day, new day care centres are being
set up by surgeons, and these are being promoted to avoid hospitalisation and to save patient’s money. Indeed, this is a very good progressive step in the field of surgical management.
I will go one step further and advise doctors to start centres, where all alternative therapies are available under one roof. For example, if a patient having a backache does not want to take any pill or SWD (Short Wave Diathermy), and is willing to try alternative medicine, then he should be offered the choice of alternative medicines under the same roof. (These have been found to be effective, mainly by anecdotal evidence and not by evidence based, peer reviewed allopathic medicine.)
Thus, when a patient enters this centre he should be given a choice of treatment from any of the available departments.
For example,
- Acupuncture
- Acupressure
- Chiropractice
- Ayurvedic
- Homoeopathy
- Magneto therapy
- Unani
- Witchcraft
- Hydrotherapy
- Urine therapy
- Kerala oil massage
Thus the patient need not look for this treatment in different parts of the city and can easily switch over to any alternative therapy, if and when he desires. At present, 30% of the patients in America follow alternative medicine, which is accepted by the government and insurance companies, who reimburse the medical costs for such therapies. |
