Introduction
In the present scenario of practice of
medicine due to advances in the internet technology, it has become mandatory for physician to inform the patient and his relatives the general condition of the patient, the effects of anaesthesia and surgery and its outcome.
The information about the details of anaesthesia to the patient and assuring him of successful outcome is necessary as we are dealing with a live person. The patient has every right to know the details of the anaesthesia he is to undergo.
By informing about all the aspects of anaesthesia such as process of anaesthesia, its side effects and successful or otherwise outcome is mandatory for the anaesthesiologist.
This is also done to avoid possible medico- legal complications in all types of patients and more so in high risk patients.
Following is the proposed draft of informed consent for high risk patients, which we propose to, introduce at Bombay Hospital and Medical Research Centre.
